Editorial - To Poh Piah with Love!

Portrait Photography by Chiat Hau Photography (Editorial Jetstar Asia - Mr Ong Poh Piah Freeze Frame)

A nice Saturday Morning where me and CL headed out to take some portrait shoot of one of the oldest Poh Piah Skin Maker in Penang for the Freeze Frame column in Jetstar Asia Magazine. Yupe, 50 years old (since 1950s) Poh Piah Skin makers who has gone through 3 generations so far.

More photos after the jump...

A very warmth family in deed. After I have introduced myself they have welcome me with open arm and fully cooperate with me in the photo shoot (You will always need to cherish cooperative subject during the shoot) :"). Mr Ong's wife has also treated us with thier home make Poh Piah after the session~!!! (Super Duper delicious in deed). Anyway Mr Ong, feel kind of worry with his legacy business where the current youngster has not really into all these Poh Piah skin making process and soon it will be "extinct" at a certain generation. Anyway I have a great conversation with him. A great man, a great family with great spirit in deed.

No matter what, I am glad that I could have an opportunity to be up close and personal with this family business. (At least I know where I could get some really great poh piah skin when LB needed one now). :) Finally, I got to thanks Mr Ong and his family for all the hospitality and cooperation that provided during that session. (Even moving his house furniture around.). And also to Chian Le for being my assistance that day. Which really help to improve the flow of the shoot that day. Thanks buddy!

  1. They're so precise! Even without mold can still make all in same size. Same round. This is what we called professionalism!
