I have been heard a lot of rave on the web in terms of the Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM (Art Line series). In terms of their sharpness on a prime seems to be awesome. I am glad that I manage to get my hand on one of these. (Since Lean has been heading over to get his long waited 18-35mm F1.8 from Sigma) and did some test shot with it.
More photos after the jump...
I first lay my hands on one of this when Georgie has been very kind enough to attach this lens on his Canon 5d Mark III for me to play around with it. I have been pretty amaze on the sharpness that this lens produced when it is wide open at F1.4. (I will say that it is pretty close to F2 of sharpness on my Sigma 50mm F1.4 which for me is very very amazing in deed). This round, I manage to lay my hands on this lens with the combo of my own Nikon body. And the contrast and warmness (specially the orange colour) produce from this lens is very close to what Nikon Nano coating can offer. (Which is an added point for it). The CA is pretty much at it's very minimal state as well. Other than there is some autofocus hesitation on some of the unit. (Yes just some of the unit). I am happy with the overall performance of this lens. Here are some of the sample photos that is took with this lens in wide open (F1.4) and also F2. But I will say that 90% of it is shoot at F1.4.
These lens is already in my wishlist after these round of testing. Definitely a good lens to have in your bag as long as it is a sharp copy. Other than it does not have the weather seal like what it's Nikon competitors. I think it is on a slightly sharper side compare to the Nikon. In the end, congtraz to Lean for his purchase on his Sigma 18-35mm F1.8. Another very sharp lens for the crop sensor. I think everyone should go and check it out. Anyway, hope that you all will enjoy this small series of sample photos. :) Have a great evening ahead.
